You might have seen the news that Lenovo has officially launched their latest smartphone Z2 Plus in India. And as far as the specs go, it’s top notch. The phone carries as competitive price tag of Rs. 17,999 that could easily capture the Indian market.
The phone is available on Amazon starting on September 26.
- 5-inch 1080p LCD
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- 13 MP rear and 8 MP front camera
- 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB storage
- Fingerprint sensor
- Hybrid dual SIM slot
- 3500mAh battery
The phone is actually launched earlier in China under the Zuk branding(Zuk Z2). So if you are planning to buy the phone, no need to worry about problems like exploding as it is not like the Samsung Note 7.
Why Buy Lenovo Z2 Plus?
Lenovo Z2 Plus is the cheapest phone that runs on the Snapdragon 820 chipset (a monster indeed). Talking about the 820 chip, it is the fastest chip that is out there in the market right now and so the phone processes data in a jiffy.
3500mAh also offers good battery backup that can last you all day long.
3 GB or 4 GB of RAM isn’t great? You might have to note that the RAM is DDR4 rather than DDR3 used by most of the phones out there, making it faster than it is on papers.
How is the UI?
Lenovo, for this time, has decided to go with Google Now Launcher rather than the default launcher that came in Zuk Z2. They call it the feature customised for India, after all Google launcher is just 10Mb that anyone can download.
Connectivity at it’s best
The Snapdragon 820 chipset offers the best-in-class connectivity, offering much higher LTE speeds than any other chipset. This is on-par with the flagship phones from Samsung, Sony and HTC.
The chip also adds Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.5, that can deliver charge of 60% in the first 30 minutes.
Other options to look for would be Xiaomi Mi 5 (Rs. 22,999) or the One Plus 3 (Rs. 27,999), both of which are priced much higher than the Lenovo Z2 Plus.
The 13MP ISOCELL rear camera comes with phase detection autofocus that can render some great shots. The front facing camera is a 8MP shooter that does a good job as well.
The camera also has a Electronic Image Stabilization and a large aperture of F2.2.
The device packs in a lot of sensors as well.
Along with the usual light sensor and the proximity sensor, the device adds a distance sensor so that your device can double as a pedometer as well. It also has an electronic compass and a gyro sensor. These work with Sensor Processing Units in the Snapdragon 820 to deliver better real time performance.
The phone bundles with Lenovo’s U-Health app that uses the distance sensor to track the number of steps, distance covered and the amount of calories burnt.
Z2 Plus also supports Glonass(GPS alternative from Russia) to deliver better location accuracy.
Want to use Jio for calls?
Not to worry. The device has support for VoLTE that lets you make voice calls on the Jio network. Moreover, the LTE speeds are much higher than supported by most phones in the same price range.
The touch-sensitive button present in the device provides some intuitive features. You can use gestures to switch between apps, access google now, open notifications etc.
The button also has the fingerprint sensor built inside it(and it is fast as well).
The 3GB RAM/32GB storage version is priced at Rs. 17,999 where as the 4GB/64GB version is priced at Rs.19,999.
If you are looking for a device in this price range, I suggest you should go with Lenovo Z2 Plus for the features described above. It is the best buy device available now. Head over to Amazon now.
