Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are two big releases for Lenovo this month. The company announced the phones last week in New Delhi and is said to be available on May 24th of this month. The phone is to be sold exclusively on Amazon. The prices of the G4 base model is yet to be known while the G4 Plus is priced at Rs. 13,499 for the 16 GB version and Rs. 14,999 for the 32 GB version.
Reasons To Buy:
1. Fingerprint Sensor Security
The Moto G4 Plus comes with a fingerprint sensor built in to the home button of the device. The sensor is designed in such a way that it can recognize your fingerprints from any angle to avoid intermittent misreads. Also, the biometric sensors from Lenovo does a decent job in accomplishing its tasks.
2. 16 MP Rear Snapper
The Rear camera is a 16 MP snapper that is said to beat the one on iPhone 6S according to the company’s claims. It has a laser autofocus system to quickly lock the subject and has an aperture of f/2.0 with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). The phase detection is like using a split prism focus aid or a rangefinder in order to find the perfect focus direction. The phone also has a dual-tone LED flash that adds up to the camera’s performance. The camera app on the phone also sports a professional mode with options to tweak exposure, ISO, color balance, etc.
3. Android Marshmallow Out-of-the-box
The phone runs on the latest version of Android, giving it an upper hand over the phone that still has Android 5.1 in the same price range. And moreover, since its Motorola, the device gives you a nearly stock-like experience with no skins like in Xiaomi, Lenovo and Samsung.
4. Full-HD Display
Yes, unlike the previous versions of Moto G, this one comes with an upgraded 5.5-inch 1080p display. Its Full-HD and so if you are a video junkie, this is the right one for you.
The other specs that makes this phone a good buy are as follows.
- MicroSD card support (Most phones nowadays ignore this one) – Up to 128 GB
- 4G-ready for Airtel and Reliance Gio (Only telecom companies with pan-India 4G license)
- TurboPower Charger – Up to 6 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging
If you are convinced that Moto G4 would be a good buy for you, head over to amazon to purchase now.
Reasons To Not Buy:
1. No USB Type-C
It is set that USB Type-C is the next step in upgrading your existing micro-USB pins. And it seems like Motorola just ignored it to go with the usual micro-USB port itself.
2. No Fast Charging (technically)
Although Motorola claims to speed up the charging process with TurboPower charger, it is not a variant of Fast Charing that is coming up. TurboPower is technically a charger that pushes larger volume of current into the phone so as to charge faster.
When compared to phones like Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo Zuk Z1 that are launched recently, G4 plus is quite overpriced for the same specifications.
4. No Led Notifications
This is a weird one. Motorola just launched a phone with no notification LED. Why would they even do that?
5. No Waterproofing or Dustproofing
The previous version, G3 had IP67 rating making it a good waterproof device. But with G4, you need to be more cautious as it cannot be anywhere near water.
Also, Moto has some issues with heating of the phone. So, if you are a gamer, better avoid this one to avoid your hands from getting burnt.
